Type Locality and Naming

Djebilet-Yetti subbasin (exposed on northwest margin of Tindouf Basin). This unit crops out on flat mesas, surrounded by wadis, coming from the Reguibat Shield (Ciampalini et al., 2012).

Lithology and Thickness

The Sebkha Mabbes Fm is about 80-200m thick and is made up entirely of shales (Guerrak, 1989; Ciampalini et al., 2012).

Lower contact

It conformably overlies the Ghezziane Fm

Upper contact

It unconformably underlies the Djebilet Fm

Regional extent

Extends throughout southern flanks of the Tindouf Basin, and Djebilet-Yetti subbasin (exposed on northwest margin of Tindouf Basin)
